A Repair Cafe is a Pop-Up community event where people can bring broken or damaged items to be fixed for free by volunteers. The goal is to promote repairing and reusing items instead of throwing them away, which helps reduce waste and encourages sustainability. The EnviroCollective Network is committed host numerous events throughout the years

Who fixes these items?

Volunteers at a Repair Cafe might have skills in fixing various items, such as clothing, electronics, bicycles, small appliances, and more. It’s also a great opportunity for people to learn how to repair things themselves
Fostering Community Engagement
Repair Cafés naturally bring people together, creating a sense of community. When individuals see their neighbors participating in sustainable practices, it can motivate them to get involved. The hands-on nature of these events makes climate action tangible and relatable.
Raising Awareness
By demonstrating practical ways to reduce waste, Repair Cafés educate attendees about the importance of sustainability. Participants learn about the environmental impact of their actions, which can inspire them to adopt more sustainable habits and explore further climate-related activities.

Building Skills and Confidence
Many people feel overwhelmed by the concept of climate advocacy. Repair Cafés provide a low-pressure environment where participants can learn new skills, like fixing appliances or upcycling furniture. As they gain confidence in their abilities, they may be more likely to take on other sustainability projects or join advocacy groups.
Inclusive and Accessible
Repair Cafés can attract a wide range of people, including those who might not initially see themselves as environmentalists. The inclusive, community-centered approach helps demystify sustainability and makes it accessible to all, regardless of their background or prior knowledge.
In essence, Repair Cafés serve as a welcoming gateway into the world of climate advocacy and sustainable development, leveraging community engagement, education, and practical skills to inspire lasting change.

FAQs
When does this happen?
The EnviroCollective, in collaboration with our fantastic partners, is thrilled to announce that we’ll be aiming to host Repair Cafes up to 10 times a year. Get ready to fix, create, and make a difference with us!
Where is it located?
We’re excited to announce that we’ll be taking the event on the road to various locations throughout the city! We’re teaming up with businesses, nonprofits, and venues that offer spacious, accessible community areas with plenty of room for multiple workstations. Join us at different spots and let’s keep the momentum going!
This is so neat! How can I volunteer?
Calling all repair enthusiasts and eager volunteers! We’d love to have you on board. Drop us an email or sign up for our Newsletter at the bottom of this page. Let’s fix, create, and make a difference together!
How do I get my stuff fixed?
As the event approaches, we will provide a link on our website where you can book a session with one of our repair technicians. The schedule will be organized into categories with 20-minute time slots for most repairs and 30 minutes for mechanical and most sewing items. While we do accept walk-ins, priority will be given to those with appointments
Can I just drop off my broken stuff and you donate it?
Repair cafés are intentionally designed as interactive learning spaces, not just drop-off points, because the goal is to empower individuals with repair skills, not just fix broken items. Volunteers work side-by-side with participants, guiding them through the repair process, explaining tools, techniques, and troubleshooting methods. This hands-on teaching fosters confidence, builds community resilience, and reduces dependence on consumer culture. People leave not only with a working item, but with new knowledge and a sense of accomplishment. It’s about shifting the mindset from passive consumption to active participation, where fixing becomes a shared experience, and learning is just as valuable as the repair itself.
