On May 16, youth of all ages gathered at the legislature for a climate strike, determined to demand urgent action on climate change. Their growing concerns echo stories like that of 11-year-old Kiké, featured in a CBC report, who skipped school due to climate anxiety. Feeling powerless in the face of environmental challenges, local youth channeled their concerns into action, distributing flyers, gathering petitions, and making their voices heard.
With support from EnviroCollective, the movement gained momentum. The organization provided a sound system to amplify their message and helped spread the word through advertising, ensuring their call for government intervention reached a wider audience. This demonstration reflects a broader trend of youth transforming climate anxiety into activism, pushing for sustainability and climate justice. They understand that their future is at stake and are determined to shape a healthier planet through direct action.
